Home Theater and AV Installation in Dallas, TX
Dallas is a city of dozens of distinct submarkets, each with its own construction era, architectural character, and AV priorities. A 1930s Swiss Avenue Tudor has nothing in common with a 2022 Uptown high-rise condo. A Lakewood craftsman home requires different installation techniques than a downtown loft. We adapt to what’s actually in front of us — different cities, same standards.
Our Dallas work spans every category: historic preservation-conscious installations in Highland Park and Swiss Avenue, modern loft AV in Uptown and Deep Ellum, family-home work throughout East Dallas and Lake Highlands, and commercial installations across downtown, Uptown, and the Design District.
TV Mounting in Dallas — All Construction Types
Dallas housing stock varies enormously by neighborhood. Our TV mounting approach adapts to what we find:
Pre-1950s construction (Highland Park, Swiss Avenue, Lakewood, M Streets, Greenland Hills) — Plaster-over-lath walls, original wood studs at variable spacing, often beautiful architectural features we work around. These require slow drilling, proper anchor selection, and texture matching after cable routing.
Mid-century construction (Lake Highlands, parts of East Dallas, White Rock) — Wood stud framing on 16” centers, original or first-generation drywall. Straightforward installations. Usually good attic access.
Modern construction (Uptown, Oak Lawn new builds, Victory Park, post-2005 East Dallas infill) — Metal stud framing, engineered construction with strict load calculations. Concrete construction in condos requires specialty anchoring.
High-rise condos (downtown Dallas, Uptown, Victory Park) — Concrete/steel construction, limited wall penetration options, often HOA restrictions on mounting. Careful assessment before drilling.
See our TV mounting service page for full pricing and details, or our TV mounting cost guide.
Home Theater Installation in Dallas
Historic homes (Highland Park, Swiss Avenue, Kessler Park) — Custom integration that respects original architecture. Hidden in-wall speakers, concealed equipment in closets and mechanical rooms, AV that doesn’t fight the home’s character.
Modern Dallas condos and townhomes (Uptown, Victory Park, Knox-Henderson) — Space-efficient theater rooms, noise-conscious installations (neighbors share walls), high-end equipment in limited square footage.
East Dallas craftsman and tudor homes (Lakewood, M Streets, Junius Heights) — Beautiful but acoustically tricky spaces. Original hardwood floors, hard surfaces, lots of reflective glass. Acoustic treatment matters more here than in typical suburban builds.
Preston Hollow custom homes — Premium market with dedicated theater rooms, often designed in during construction. Reference-grade builds, premium brands (JVC, Stewart Filmscreen, Triad), Control4 integration throughout.
Typical Dallas home theater investment: $8,000-$45,000 for most residential projects. Premium Preston Hollow and Highland Park builds run $75,000-$250,000+. See our home theater installation service for details.
Commercial AV in Dallas
Dallas commercial AV is most of what we do. The concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, law firms, finance, and healthcare in the Dallas CBD and Uptown drives massive demand for conference room AV. The restaurant and bar scene — Deep Ellum, Bishop Arts, Knox-Henderson, Uptown — keeps us busy with restaurant and bar AV installations.
Commercial categories we cover in Dallas:
- Conference room and corporate AV — Downtown, Uptown, Design District, North Dallas corporate corridors
- Video wall installation — Corporate lobbies, sports bars, event spaces
- Restaurant and sports bar AV — Every restaurant district in Dallas
- Medical and dental office AV — UT Southwestern adjacent, Preston Hollow practices, citywide
- Hospitality AV — Downtown hotels, Design District boutique properties
- Event venue AV — Wedding venues, banquet halls, corporate event spaces
- House of worship AV — Dallas has some of the largest churches in the country; we work with congregations of all sizes
- Digital signage — Retail, corporate, wayfinding throughout Dallas
Dallas Neighborhoods We Serve Most Frequently
Lakewood — One of our favorite submarkets. 1920s-1940s craftsman and Tudor homes, owners who appreciate quality work, willing to pay for doing it right. Common project: modernizing AV in a historic home without disrupting the architectural character.
East Dallas / M Streets / Greenland Hills — Smaller cottage and craftsman homes, tight spaces, creative installation required. Often retrofit work upgrading aging systems.
Uptown and Victory Park — High-rise condo work. Concrete construction, HOA considerations, concierge coordination for access. Typical project: 85” TV mounting with surround sound and smart home integration in a luxury condo.
Deep Ellum — Heavy commercial focus. Restaurants, bars, music venues, art galleries. Multi-TV installations, zoned audio, live performance AV.
Highland Park and University Park — Premium residential market. Custom dedicated theaters, whole-home Control4 integration, reference-grade equipment. Careful installation in homes with significant architectural value.
Preston Hollow — Estate homes, dedicated theater rooms, often $50K-$250K+ projects. Our highest-ticket Dallas work.
Bishop Arts and Oak Cliff — Growing market. Craftsman bungalow renovations, modern infill construction, independent restaurants and retail.
Lake Highlands and White Rock — Established family neighborhoods. 1960s-1980s construction, mid-market residential AV, bonus room theater conversions.
Downtown Dallas CBD — Almost exclusively commercial: corporate conference rooms, hotel AV, event venue AV.
Dallas-Specific Installation Considerations
Historic preservation districts — Swiss Avenue, Winnetka Heights, Munger Place, Vickery Place, and similar districts have specific rules about exterior modifications. We handle any permission requirements.
HOA-heavy neighborhoods — Highland Park, University Park, and the newer master-planned developments have strict exterior and installation rules. We handle HOA submissions.
Condo building access — Uptown and downtown condos often require advance scheduling with building management, proof of insurance, and specific elevator access arrangements. We handle coordination.
Texas weather and ERCOT considerations — Every install over $5K includes proper surge protection. Dallas gets hit hard by spring storms and summer heat — cheap power strips don’t protect investment-grade AV gear.

Structured Wiring and Low-Voltage Pre-Wire in Dallas
During construction is when we do our best low-voltage work. Running CAT6 Ethernet, speaker cable, HDMI, and control wires through open walls before drywall goes up dramatically reduces cost and dramatically improves what’s possible. For Dallas new construction and major renovations, pre-wire is the single highest-ROI low-voltage investment.
Typical Dallas pre-wire scope: CAT6 to every TV and workstation, RG6 coax throughout, speaker cable to every planned audio zone, control wiring for lighting and shades, and proper network equipment closet. Small home: $2,500–$5,500. Standard home: $5,500–$12,000. Custom home: $12,000–$25,000+.
See our structured wiring service for full details on what proper pre-wire includes.
