TV Mounting in Dallas, TX
Dallas is the hardest city in DFW to generalize about, because Dallas doesn’t have one architectural story — it has twenty. A TV mount in a 1920s Tudor in Kessler Park is a different job than the same mount in a 2018 high-rise condo in Victory Park. Preston Hollow’s mid-century luxury is different from Oak Cliff’s craftsman bungalows. Uptown’s post-2005 towers are different from Lakewood’s pre-war homes. A Dallas installer has to work with all of it.
We do. Here’s how we approach TV mounting across Dallas’s housing stock, what it costs, and what actually matters for each neighborhood type.
Dallas TV Mounting Pricing — Varies by Construction Type
Unlike suburban DFW where pricing is uniform, Dallas pricing varies significantly based on the home’s construction era and complexity:
Modern construction (post-2000 condos, Uptown, Victory Park, Farmers Branch adjacent):
- Standard TV mount up to 75”: $179 to $225
- 85” TV mount: $379 to $449
- In-wall cable routing: $175 to $275
- Concrete wall mounting (high-rise condos): add $125 to $225
Mid-century (1950-1980 Preston Hollow, Lakewood, Casa Linda, M Streets):
- Standard mount on drywall over wood studs: $165 to $215
- Masonry wall mounting (brick interior walls): $295 to $475
- Plaster wall mounting (some older construction): $295 to $425
Historic (pre-1950 Kessler Park, Winnetka Heights, Swiss Avenue, Munger Place):
- Plaster and lath mounting: $395 to $595
- Historic district coordination: varies
- Whole-home integration with period sensitivity: $2,500 to $18,000+
High-rise condos (Museum Tower, W Residences, Stoneleigh, Ritz-Carlton Residences):
- Concrete wall mount: $395 to $725
- HVAC coordination (many buildings have specific AV installation rules): varies
- Cable routing limited by building construction: often $275-$495 additional
Final quotes are always after phone consultation or site visit — Dallas work varies too much to price flat.
The Five Dallas TV Installation Types
1. High-Rise Condo Installation
Dallas has dozens of high-rise condo buildings with thousands of units — Museum Tower, Bleu Ciel, The Mayfair, One Uptown, Ashton Avenue, Azure, Stoneleigh, Ritz-Carlton Residences, W Residences, The Cosmopolitan, The House, and many others.
Why these are different:
- Concrete walls between units — no stud mounting, requires masonry anchors rated for concrete
- Limited cable routing — no wall cavities to route through, often no attic access
- Strict building rules — many buildings require contractor approval, Certificate of Insurance, and scheduled install windows
- HVAC constraints — some buildings prohibit certain types of installations near HVAC returns
- Thermal considerations — exterior walls (especially floor-to-ceiling glass areas) create temperature issues for mounted TVs
Our approach: We handle the building paperwork (COI, contractor registration, scheduled elevator use). We use concrete-rated anchors. We work with your HOA or building management on any specific restrictions. Cable routing is usually through ceiling chases, behind furniture, or via decorative raceways when in-wall isn’t feasible.
Typical Dallas high-rise condo TV install: 3-5 hours due to building coordination and concrete mounting time. Pricing runs 40-70% above standard suburban installs.
2. Pre-War Historic Home Installation
Dallas has significant historic housing stock in Kessler Park, Winnetka Heights, Swiss Avenue, Munger Place, South Boulevard, Park Row, and scattered older neighborhoods. These homes share characteristics with Park Cities work:
- Plaster and lath walls requiring specialized drilling and anchors
- Limited attic access for cable routing
- Potential landmark restrictions in specific districts
- Period-appropriate installation preferences from homeowners
See our TV mounting in Highland Park page for detail on historic home techniques — most applies identically to Dallas historic neighborhoods.
3. Mid-Century Ranch / Modern
Lakewood, Preston Hollow, Casa Linda, M Streets, University Park adjacent, and other mid-century Dallas neighborhoods typically offer the easiest Dallas installations:
- Drywall over wood studs — standard mounting approach works
- Single-story layouts with attic access — cable routing is straightforward
- Moderate ceiling heights — no high-ceiling complications
- Consistent construction era — predictable wall layouts and wiring patterns
Dallas mid-century installations are typically comparable to suburban work in complexity and pricing.
4. Loft / Converted Industrial
The Cedars, Deep Ellum warehouses converted to loft residences, Design District, some Bishop Arts properties — Dallas has significant converted-industrial housing stock.
Characteristics:
- Exposed brick or concrete walls — masonry anchoring required
- High ceilings (10-20+ feet) complicating cable routing and mount placement
- Visible ductwork that constrains wall layouts
- Industrial aesthetic that shapes installation preferences (many clients want visible cable runs or exposed mount hardware as part of the look)
These installations often run 2-4 hours and require specific hardware for the mounting surface.
5. Suburban Dallas Standard
Parts of North Dallas, Lake Highlands, Northwest Dallas, and Preston Hollow newer construction follow standard suburban patterns — metal studs, predictable construction, straightforward cable routing. These installations match our Plano and Frisco pricing and process.
Dallas-Specific Considerations
Neighborhood Parking and Access
Some Dallas neighborhoods create access challenges we account for:
- Bishop Arts, Deep Ellum, Uptown — street parking only, loading can be complicated, sometimes permit parking required
- Lakewood, Casa Linda — residential streets, parking usually available
- High-rise condos — elevator reservations required in many buildings, often a loading dock process
- Historic districts — some have restrictions on trucks and work hours
This doesn’t change pricing but affects scheduling. We build these factors into our estimated completion times.
Cable Installation Around Dallas Brick Exteriors
Many Dallas homes (especially mid-century and historic) have brick exterior walls that can’t be drilled for routing cables between interior and exterior. This matters for:
- Outdoor TV installations — often requires creative routing through garage or laundry areas
- Patio speaker installations — same routing challenges
- Outdoor camera installations — sometimes requires wireless cameras where wired would be preferred
We plan around these constraints during the consultation.
HOA and Condo Association Coordination
Dallas condo buildings and some HOAs (specifically Preston Hollow, Bent Tree, some parts of Lake Highlands) have specific installation rules. We’ve handled paperwork for most major Dallas buildings and HOAs. Approval timelines run 1-4 weeks.
Commercial Dallas Work
Dallas has significant commercial AV demand — Downtown corporate offices, Uptown commercial/residential mixed use, retail throughout, restaurants and entertainment venues especially in Deep Ellum, Bishop Arts, Design District, and Lower Greenville.
Commercial Dallas work is scheduled around business hours (evenings, weekends, overnight for retail). We provide Certificate of Insurance and work with building management/property managers throughout Dallas’s commercial districts.
See our corporate AV service, restaurant and bar AV, and retail AV pages for commercial-specific information.

Questions We Hear from Dallas Clients
Will my condo building let you install? Almost always yes, but we need to register as a contractor, provide a Certificate of Insurance, and schedule elevator time. We handle this for you during booking. Some buildings have restricted work hours — we’ll confirm scheduling windows before committing to a date.
What about Dallas’s humidity and temperature fluctuation? Indoor installations aren’t affected. Outdoor installations absolutely are — Dallas humidity combined with 100°F+ summers requires proper outdoor-rated TVs and sealed cable routing. We don’t compromise on outdoor equipment specs.
Can you install if I’m renting a Dallas condo/apartment? Yes, if your lease permits wall modifications. Most Dallas apartment and condo leases require pre-approval and a return-to-original-condition agreement. We install in ways that minimize damage for future removal (small holes patched cleanly during removal).
What’s the right mount for a 70-pound TV on a high-rise concrete wall? Concrete anchors rated for 3-5x the TV weight, installed at proper spacing. We use Tapcon or Red Head Multi-Set anchors depending on the specific concrete characteristics. For TVs over 50 pounds, we use 4 anchor points minimum with spacing that distributes load across a larger wall area.
Do you work in Deep Ellum after hours? Yes — Deep Ellum loft installations often happen evenings or weekends to avoid parking and access constraints. We’ll schedule around your availability.
What about the Design District? Several active projects in Design District residential conversions. Industrial wall types require specific approach. Typical install $395-$725 depending on mounting surface.
