Security Camera Installation in Garland, TX and DFW
A properly installed security camera system does three things: records what actually happens on your property, lets you see it live from anywhere, and holds up in court if you need it to. Most DIY and handyman-installed systems fail at least one of those three requirements — poor camera placement creates blind spots, consumer-grade recorders can’t store enough footage, and cheap cameras produce footage that’s too low-resolution to identify anyone when something actually happens.
We install commercial-grade surveillance systems in Garland, Rowlett, Richardson, Plano, and across the DFW metroplex. Residential and commercial. IP-based systems, cloud-integrated, remote monitoring via phone.

Security Camera Systems We Install
IP Camera Brands:
- Hikvision and Dahua — Professional-grade, commercial reliability at reasonable pricing. Our default recommendation for most DFW residential and commercial installs.
- Axis Communications — Enterprise-grade, longer warranty, premium pricing. For commercial projects with specific compliance requirements.
- Amcrest — Value tier. Acceptable for budget-conscious residential, skip for commercial.
- Reolink — Entry-level IP cameras. Fine for basic residential monitoring.
NVR/Recording Systems:
- Synology Surveillance Station (software-based, excellent for tech-forward users)
- Hikvision/Dahua NVRs (commercial-grade, reliable)
- Cloud-only options (Eufy, Ring Alarm Pro, Unifi Protect) for smaller installations
Important for Texas: All outdoor cameras we install are rated for Texas weather — proper IP ratings for rain/dust, temperature tolerance for 100°F+ summers, UV-resistant housings. Consumer-grade “weather-resistant” cameras often fail within 2-3 Texas summers.
Residential Security Camera Installation
Typical residential camera placement strategy:
- Front door camera with package pickup view and visitor identification
- Driveway/garage cameras covering vehicle approaches
- Backyard perimeter cameras covering property corners
- Side-yard cameras for typical intrusion paths
- Main living area indoor camera for away-from-home monitoring
- Optional: Pool deck and outdoor entertainment areas
We walk through your property, identify blind spots and high-priority coverage areas, and design the system around your specific home and security concerns. No templated “6 camera package” approach — every home gets a custom layout.
Integration with smart home systems: Cameras can integrate with:
- Alexa / Google Home for voice alerts and viewing
- Smart home systems (Control4, Home Assistant)
- Existing alarm systems (2GIG, Honeywell, DSC, Qolsys)
- Mobile phones for real-time alerts and viewing
Commercial Security Camera Installation
Commercial surveillance is a different category from residential. Commercial systems require:
- Commercial-grade cameras rated for 24/7 operation
- Proper storage for compliance (often 30-90 days depending on industry)
- Access control integration with door systems, alarm systems
- Multi-user access with proper permissions
- Incident investigation capability — easy timeline search, export, and sharing
Common commercial installs in DFW:
- Retail stores (theft deterrence, employee monitoring, customer dispute resolution)
- Restaurants (kitchen monitoring, register coverage, delivery area)
- Offices (after-hours security, entry/exit tracking, visitor management)
- Medical/dental practices (HIPAA-conscious installation, patient safety)
- Warehouses and storage facilities (inventory protection, loading dock coverage)
- Apartment complexes and multi-family residential (common area coverage)
- Automotive (lot monitoring, service bay coverage)
What Makes Our Installations Different
1. Professional cable routing. All cables run in-wall or through conduit. No messy surface-mount cable runs visible on exterior walls. Clean presentation.
2. Proper camera placement. We position cameras where they’ll actually capture useful footage — not where they’re easiest to install. This means higher mounting heights for tamper resistance, proper angle calculations for license plate capture where needed, and overlapping coverage to prevent blind spots.
3. Correct resolution for the job. 4MP/1080p is adequate for general monitoring. 8MP/4K is necessary for license plate capture at distance. 12MP+ is overkill for most residential. We spec to the requirement.
4. Reliable storage. Most consumer cameras rely on cloud storage that can be interrupted by internet outages, payment failures, or manufacturer issues. Our installations include local NVR storage PLUS optional cloud backup — continuous recording even when internet is down.
5. Surge protection. DFW lightning exposure is real. Every commercial and most residential installations include proper surge protection for recording hardware. Not optional.

Security Camera Installation FAQs
How much does security camera installation cost in Dallas? Basic 4-camera residential system: $1,500-$2,800. Standard 6-8 camera system: $2,800-$5,500. Premium residential: $5,500-$12,000. Commercial systems start around $3,500 and scale with camera count and storage requirements.
Do you install Ring, Nest, or other consumer camera systems? Yes, but we recommend commercial-grade IP systems for most installations. Consumer systems have storage and reliability limitations that commercial systems don’t. If you prefer consumer cameras (Ring, Nest, Arlo), we’ll install them properly — we just won’t pretend they’re equivalent to professional systems.
How many cameras do I need? Most homes benefit from 4-8 cameras: front door, driveway, backyard perimeter, side yards, and a main indoor area. Commercial properties typically need 6-16 cameras depending on building size and requirements.
Do I need Wi-Fi cameras or wired cameras? Wired (PoE - Power over Ethernet) cameras are more reliable, have better image quality, and don’t depend on Wi-Fi. We recommend wired installations for any serious security system. Wi-Fi cameras are acceptable for secondary coverage in locations where cable runs aren’t practical.
How long is footage stored? Typical residential NVR stores 7-14 days of continuous footage with 4-8 cameras. Commercial systems typically store 30-90 days depending on industry requirements. Both can be extended with larger storage.
Can I view cameras from my phone? Yes. All our installations include mobile app access (typically through Hikvision’s iVMS-4500, Dahua DMSS, or Synology’s Surveillance Station app). Remote viewing works from anywhere with internet.
Do you offer ongoing monitoring service? We install the systems. Live monitoring services (like ADT or vivint) are separate. We can connect your camera system to most professional monitoring services if you have one.
