Home Theater and AV Installation in Dalrock
Dalrock is one of Rowlett’s older established neighborhoods — a mix of 1980s and 1990s family homes with some newer infill along the Dalrock Road corridor. The housing stock here is solid, yards are mature, and the demographics skew toward long-term residents who’ve lived here for 20+ years. When Dalrock homeowners invest in AV, they usually invest in doing it right the first time rather than replacing it every five years.
Most of our Dalrock work falls into three categories: upgrading aging living room systems, adding proper surround sound to family rooms built before it was standard, and the occasional bonus room theater conversion in larger homes.
What Dalrock Construction Looks Like
Most Dalrock homes are wood-stud, drywall construction from the 1980s-1990s DFW building boom. That’s generally good news for AV work:
- Standard 16” stud spacing makes TV mounting predictable
- Attic access in most single-story homes is straightforward
- Original builder wiring is usually adequate for modern AV loads
- Older blown-in insulation sometimes complicates in-wall cable routing, but not prohibitively
A few Dalrock homes from the 1970s have more interesting construction — plaster or textured walls, variable stud spacing. These require slower, more careful installation but we’ve done plenty of them.
Common Projects in Dalrock
TV mounting and cable hiding — Standard call. 65”-75” TV, in-wall cable routing, sometimes a soundbar integration. Typical job: $350-$650 including the in-wall work.
Surround sound retrofits — Older Dalrock homes often have AV receivers from 10+ years ago and 5.1 systems that never got properly calibrated. We update to modern Atmos-capable receivers and add ceiling speakers for proper 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 configurations. Typical job: $3,500-$8,500.
Whole-home audio — Sonos integration is the common choice. Kitchen, family room, master bedroom, often patio. 4-6 zones typical. $6,500-$11,000.
Bonus room theater conversions — Less common in Dalrock than in newer Rowlett neighborhoods but still a regular project. $15,000-$28,000 for a properly done media room conversion.
HOA and Neighborhood Rules
Dalrock doesn’t have a particularly aggressive HOA — rules are reasonable and enforcement is sensible. Common considerations:
- Exterior TV mounts on covered patios are generally fine
- Outdoor speakers audible from the street can draw complaints, so we spec directional speakers for outdoor installations
- No specific restrictions on satellite dish placement we’ve run into
Why Dalrock Homeowners Choose Us
We show up when we say we will. We tell you what something actually costs before we start. We don’t upsell products that don’t match what you actually need. These are table stakes, but they’re surprisingly rare in the AV trade.
